Statement on Stewardship
We, the members of the Vestry of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, have adopted the following statement on Stewardship, and we hereby prayerfully commend it to all the members of this parish.
We ask all members of the Church of the Heavenly Rest to give of their time, talent, and financial treasure, in joyful and thankful response to God's Love, and in support of the work and ministry of Our Lord in this parish and community.
We encourage all giving by the members of Heavenly Rest to be:
BIBLICALLY BASED – that is, consistent with the Word and Will of God as it is revealed in Holy Scripture (e.g. Lev. 27:30-33, Amos 4:4, Malachi 3:8-10, Luke 16:10-13, 18:12, 21:1-4)
PROPORTIONATE – that is, based on a proportion of one's income, rather than a fixed dollar amount (e.g. .05%, 1%, 3%, 10%)
SYSTEMATIC – that is, given at regular intervals (e.g. as received, weekly, monthly, etc.)
We pledge to strive, with God's help, to grow towards the Biblical standard of tithing in our own giving as Christian Stewards. We invite all members of the Church of the Heavenly Rest to take part in this journey of faith. And we urge all members of the parish to join with us in increasing the proportion of their resources that are given for God's work in this world.
