CONFIRMATION CLASS: 8th Grade (ages 13-14)
This class prepares young teenagers to reaffirm their Baptismal Vows in the Rite of Confirmation. The class covers biblical history and timelines, and examines the Old Testament, the Gospels, the Sacraments and the Eucharist. In the second half of the school year, contemporary social and spiritual issues are explored. In addition to Sunday morning classes and attendance at worship, students attend a fall overnight retreat at Incarnation Camp in Connecticut. They participate in outreach programs, including Yorkville Common Pantry, services at the DeWitt Nursing Home, and the annual CROP Walk to End Hunger. The class meets over lunch in the Cloister from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. two Sundays a month. Confirmation by the Bishop is in the spring.
