Bishop Michael Marshall, , Hon Assistant Bishop in London and founding president of the Awareness Foundation has recently retired from Holy Trinity, Sloane Square, London. In retirement he has begun a new ministry, along with a pastoral assistant Soon Han Choi, exploring contemplative prayer at The Church of the Annunciation, Marble Arch, London - SPA (Scripture Prayer Action). A renowned preacher and author of many books Bishop Michael is also a gifted pianist and has performed concerts with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and St Louis Symphony Orchestra. He has also lectured on the Spirituality of Schubert, Mozart and Beethoven.
Bishop Michael’s ties with America are strong, following his time as Bishop of Woolwich; in 1984 he became the Director of the Anglican Institute in St Louis, Missouri where he served for eight years.
Flutist Gretchen Pusch made her Carnegie Recital Hall debut as winner of the Artists International Competition. She has appeared in recital and as concerto soloist in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. She is a member of the Dorian Quintet and has collaborated in chamber music performances with Flute Force, Musicians' Accord, Paula Robison, Julius Baker, Anthony Newman and Peter Schickele, among others. An active freelancer in New York City, Ms. Pusch has performed with the Brooklyn Philharmonic, American Symphony, New Jersey Symphony and the American Composers' Orchestra. She has recorded for CRI, VAI, Innova, Mode, Newport Classic, Windham Hill and Panasonic Japan. Ms. Pusch serves on the flute faculty of the Juilliard School's Music Advancement Program and was formerly on the faculty of Rutgers University. She is a graduate of Boston University and studied with Julius Baker, James Pappoutsakis and Keith Underwood.
The Awareness Foundation
The Awareness Foundation is an educational, international, ecumenical institution that seeks to foster community harmony through education with a difference, teaching Christians about their own faith, and that of their neighbours, so that they can live in a diverse society without fear and without compromising their faith, while respecting difference. The Foundation was inaugurated by the Archbishop of Canterbury on 14th September 2003.
