Madison Avenue is lined with charming boutiques, but Carnegie Hill residents in the know will tell you: one of the neighborhood's best shopping opportunities happens three Saturdays a year (fall, winter and spring) here at Heavenly Rest, when its 90th Street doors are flung open, and buyers swarm in to browse for bargains for adults and children. Items include: Designer Boutique Clothing for Women; Women's, Men's and Children's Clothing and Shoes; Jewelry; China, Glassware, Housewares and Linens; Books, DVDs and CDs; Children’s Books and Toys – and Treasures!
For us, our Thrift Sales are a win-win situation! The local community gets a chance to clear out closets – and customers from all over the city come to pick up high-end merchandise at rock-bottom prices. Volunteers – both those engaged in pre-sale sorting/pricing sessions and those who work the sales floor, aka our Nave, on Thrift Sale Saturdays – enjoy fellowship as they help our church. Nothing goes to waste; unsold items are packed up after the sale and donated to smaller Thrift shops in the New York Diocese.
Donations can be dropped off at the security desk just inside the Fifth Avenue entrance to the church office during weekday business hours; upon request, tax receipts are available from the custodian on duty.
