Upcoming Programming

Welcome to the Church of the Heavenly Rest and our 2025-2026 Program Year!

We believe this church is The Place to BE in our great city, at a time of distraction and anxiety, when so many of us seek authenticity, community and transcendence.

BEGIN your journey of faith and your walk with Jesus. We offer baptism to people of all ages, with programs of introduction and orientation to Christianity, the Episcopal Church, and this particular parish. BELONG to an intergenerational community of humble, joyful, faithful people who desire deeper relationship with God, one another, and our city. BECOMING a member is a simple yet significant process and your clergy will help you understand what’s required to say “I’m in”! BEHOLD the beauty of holiness in worship, music, art, nature, and one another. BE LOVED as a cherished child of God and valued member of God’s communion. BELIEVE in the mystery of God: present, transcendent, loving, reconciling, transforming, and healing.

Wherever you are on your walk of faith, you are somewhere. And Heavenly Rest is the place to BECOME who God already knows you to BE.

Our fall newsletter is live! It’s filled with information about new programming, community outreach, music, children and family ministry. You can check it out here!

Heavenly Wednesdays: Paused on October 1

Our Heavenly Wednesday programming will be paused on October 1 due to Yom Kippur. We will be back on October 8! Look for more information soon and please reach out to Michael Sahdev with any questions.

Sunday 5pm: Candlelight Service for Healing and Contemplation

This Sunday, September 28th at 5pm, our Vespers series continues with A Candlelight Service for Healing and Contemplation.

For centuries, Christians have participated in the laying on of hands and anointing with oil with prayers for healing of body, mind and soul.

On Sunday, our clergy will lead us in this ancient tradition as a modern community of faith, lifting to God our own needs and those of others with much needed prayers for wholeness, hope, reconciliation and peace.

Harp and vocal music will be provided by Heavenly Rest choir member Ruth Cunningham, a classically trained musician and certified cross-cultural music healing practitioner (or CCMHP) and founding member of Anonymous 4. Ruth combines these skills to improvise music that connects people to the healing and spiritual power of music. All are invited!

Wednesday and Thursday Chorister Classes Return September 17th

Does your child love music? We offer free choral and music education programs for young people ages 4-12th grade. All of our activities are open to the neighborhood and community, and we would love for your family to join us! Registration has closed for Fall 2025 and will reopen for January 2026 enrollment.

Email Director of Music Janet Yieh with questions about Chorister classes and Music Education programs.

Sunday Volunteers

Sunday morning ministries are a great way to get involved at CHR! We would love to have your help on Sunday morning (usually one Sunday a month) and we’ll make sure you’re trained and feel comfortable in serving. Let us know if you feel a tug toward any of them!

• Acolytes: Kids in 3rd grade and up...carry something beautiful and lead us in worship!
Ushers: Anyone with a desire to make sure everyone receives a warm welcome!
Altar Guild: Help prepare the altar for the Eucharist (and clean up)!
Lay Readers & Intercessors: Share your voice!
Chalice Bearers: Help offer the Sacrament of Christ's body!
